    Glen Wagner and Tom Edgman started "Plows Unlimited" in 1994. Together they had over 60 years mechanical back ground. In 1996 Glen retired from Plows Unlimited and Tom Edgman and his family took over. They expanded their lines, and continue to do so. The focus being to provide everything the professional snow remover needs (one stop shopping). They wanted to do this without leaving the home user out of the picture. "Snow plows and snow blowers for the highway, runway, railway and drive way"
    Tom started working full time as an auto mechanic while still attending high school. After completing high school, in 1966, he went to work in the "San Francisco Navel Shipyard" as an apprentice heavy equipment mechanic. This was interrupted by Uncle Sam. He went on to serve as a heavy equipment mechanic in Berlin, Germany (the wall was still up) and as a heavy equipment operator with a Combat Engineer unit in the North-West of the Republic of Viet Nam. Upon his return, he finished his apprenticeship and 2 years as a student at City College of San Francisco with a mechanical engineer major.
    Tom went on the work with several underground construction and mining companies. He worked with Caterpillar Tractor company, and helped developed the AG-60 and AG-65 tractors along with the Cat natural gas tractor engines. He was later "lead mechanic" with a small power company in the High Sierras, before starting Plows Unlimited. Tom has been involved in the design and improvement of several plows and other snow removal equipment. Tom has assembled a very qualified team to help you with your snow removal needs or problems.
    In late 2003 doing business within the Town of Truckee was starting to be restrictive. An opportunity arose to buy some acreage with a home and shop near Sierra City. Since Tom spent much of his youth here. So now, here we are.
    Sierra City is a quant little town along the North Fork of the Yuba River. It is located on Picturesque Highway 49, which winds along the river and through Sierra City. Our yard is on the hillside overlooking highway 49, and within the sound of the river.
 
These are the players:
Feather Ortiz is our receptionist and Tom's assistant (except in the summer, when she runs her own nursery in Downieville)
Keri Edgman Manning is our office manager and problem solver
Docia Bostrom takes care of accounts payable/receivable
Matt Edgman heads the sales department
Ian Mason runs our South Truckee yard and welding facility
Tom tends to do a lot; along with running the business and other mysterious things
Beth (Tom’s wife and boss) keeps us all in check, and cleans our clocks when needed
And our new guy Patrick Manning (he’s Keri’s Dad.)
Tom joked earlier about changing the name to M&E Enterprises. (If you follow you’ll get the joke.)
