Folding AirportSnow Plow

Sir,
Hello, my name is Darin Wheat. I am a student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University while serving active duty in the Air Force. The class I'm in has a project to build an airport from an airport manager's perspective and I've been tasked to find out the cost of snow removal equipment. Our airport has two 12,000 ft. runways. Can you give me the cost of a plow and blower, as well as a rough idea of how many pieces of each item we'll need? Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Darin Wheat

Hi Darin,
Runway Sweeper $300,000 to $400,000

Snowblower $150,000 to $300,000

Airport 20' Plow and Push Unit $200,000

Truck with 12' Snowplow $155,000

20' Ramp Plow for Wheel Loader $20,000

Wheel Loader $225,000

Snow melter capable of recovering wing deicers $300,000

I do not know the cost of wing deicers or bulk ice melters for the runways. Hey, on the second half of your question, it would depend on how busy your airport is. The more flights the less time there is to remove snow. It is common to shut down one runway at a time for clearing, but as you see so well illistrated by a recent plane crash, that it is best not to have any equipment on any runwaywhile planes are taking off or landing.

Dear Mr. Plow
I am researching snow blowers.
I was wondering if you could tell me what kind and series of snow blower sold the most last year
I live in Cottage Grove (suburb of st. paul), and I have a 30-50 feet drive way.
Please give me a recommendation considering my location and drive way size.
Joe Budding

Dear Joe,
The model snow blower we sold the most of is Kodiak Northwest. However it may be a little big for your 30 foot drive way. I assume you are looking for a walk behind snow blower. I like the White SB-855 4x4 best.
8 1/2 horse power
26" wide
power steering
about $1400 list
White's dealer locator phone number
1 800 9 4-WHITE
White is the only walk behind snow blower manufacturer that I could find willing to work with disabled Vets.and others with special needs. Many other White models are available.
Thanks for writting,
Mr. Plow

Dear Sir,
I am looking for information on spare parts for an American Coleman Company 6-72 Snow Removal Unit Rotary which was purchased by a ski resort from Army Surplus equipment. Was hoping you may point me in a direction to find this or similar information.
Thank you.

Hi Daniel,
There is an outfit in Texas that bought out all the American Coleman parts that were left. I can't remember their name.
Fabco in Oakland Ca. might be of some assistance. The folks at Morman Herrington might be able to shed some light on this.
It has been so long since I looked for stuff like this, my memory cells are a little rusty.
Fabco 510-596-2713. Ask if Mark Ritz still works there.
Equipment Southwest 1-615-579-1532. Bob Harmon is who I used to talk to.
Marmon Herrington 1-800-227-0727
This are old names and numbers, but they might help. I dug out my old card file.
