Consumers think of Ford as the number one truck because of all the advertisements that showcase the sales numbers of the Ford F150 trucks. So it comes as a surprise to many that the Ford truck is not the number one choice for snowplow use. You can see these results here on Snow Plow News. How could this be?
One of the reasons that Ford is not used by plowers relates to the fact that Ford will not allow plows to be put on the popular F150. Ford does not offer a "snow plow prep package" on their 1/2 ton trucks. A snow plow prep package can include a stronger axle or stiffer suspension or an HD alternator. Trucks could be outfitted with some or all of these options and could also include a second battery.
Another indicator that showcases Ford's lack of focus on the plow segment can be found in their brand new launch of a work truck site. This spectacular site focuses on drawing in the serious work truck users but completely ignores the snow and ice industry users.
More research is being done to find the reason Ford does not allow prep packages on their ever-popular truck.
