Ohio DOT Plows Protect Accident Victim

CLEVELAND

Falling snow and accumulating ice on Northeast Ohio highways kept Ohio Department of Transportation snowplow drivers busy for much of the day Saturday.

For a small group of ODOT plow drivers, stepping in to help out a stranded motorist became an unexpected part of their work day.

Slick roads caused a driver to slide and crash into the cement median on the Innerbelt northbound at the Chester Avenue exit in downtown Cleveland.

ODOT drivers used their large, wide trucks to block the inside lane to protect the motorist and disabled vehicle until police arrived on scene.

One plow driver even walked southbound to the Prospect Avenue exit waving flares to warn oncoming northbound traffic of the accident around a blind turn up ahead.

The driver of the car was not injured in the accident.
