The other day, I was at the grocery store and needed to pick up some new blades for my Gillette razor. I'm still flabbergasted by the price of these little things. $13.99 for four razors?!?
So thinking I was smart, I went and bought a 5-pack of generic disposable razors for about $3.50. I went to use one this morning and you know what I found out? There's a reason those Gillette blades are $13.99....they work, and they work very well. After 5 nicks and irritated skin, I tossed that little guy right in the garbage.
In the end, this is a lesson I've learned with snow plow equipment too. In this industry, it's sometimes tempting to try and save money on a piece of equipment that is priced far less than its competitive counterpart, but what we find out is that, for the most part, there is a reason for that price differential. So you'll want to find out all you can about the products, whether its the quality of servicing dealers, time saving or money making options, or particular design charicteristics that will make the product last longer which makes the more expensive product worth the price. Ask around on Snow Plow News to see if any of the other members here have the product, and what they think of it.
Basically, you'll want to find out if there's a reason why one product is more expensive than another.
Perhaps this is common sense, but you'd be amazed how often common sense takes a back seat in a poor economy.
